Thursday Chainey
I'm not sure how many will turn up at the shop tommorow night but i'm assuming Steve Warner will do his ride and there will also be a fast chain gang on the short route.
I'm happy to take a more controlled chain gang on the short route for Beginners and others, it won't be slow but it will be more managed - at least for the first two laps! The aim of this group is to build confidence and endurance for those who wish to step up to the faster chain gang later.
Any interest, or shall we just see at the shop tomorrow night?
Simon I'd be up for the
Thursday Chainey
Good idea Simon. I'm not around this Thursday - Parents' Evening - but I'll give you a hand with this in future weeks if it's a goer. The fast chainey is going to be extremely fast imho and will put riders off who would like a go.
Simons steady chainey
We all joined Simon on the steady chainey last night. Half of the route was wet, half was dry. I think we all stayed together quite well for 2 laps then it got ripped up a bit after 2.5 laps. It is a great idea to keep at least one steadier chainey going. I think Thursdays all of last year were meant to be steady. We do not gain anything by dropping newer riders after half a lap.
I find the change in pace, going from steady to fast, harder than if I had been going faster all night. Is that just me?
Steady chainey
I think, like Ste alluded to
I think, like Ste alluded to Sarah that the Thursday chainey is designed to be steady speed that is manageable by the group and no one should get dropped early on.....towards the end the pace will pick up and there maybe a final sprint but its about technique and chain gang riding - as the weeks progress and people gain in skills and confidence the speed will increase.
I think i'd be right in saying that as long as there's some of the more experienced chainey riders there on a Thursday to take a 'skills group' it will happen....if there are a few more experienced riders they may well head off on their own chainey.
give it a whirl, i'm sure people will be posting on FB and here if there are going to be Thursday chaineys
One thing to note is that as the season goes on and people improve new chainey riders may find it difficult to jump on the chaineys as they will be cracking on.
get involved give it whirl, let the gropup know you're new to chain gang riding and you'll be fine.....i can promise you'll be beaming afterwards!!!!!
Steve, I think when the
Steve, I think when the Tuesday 'long chainey' starts up again the Thursday could be more focused on a steady ride?
Steady
