A ride to the mast

on Fri, 08/05/2015 - 09:26

Time for some more hills (particularly for anyone going to Great Dun Fell next week).

The nearest we have locally is the climb to the mast on Winter Hill, so that is where we are going. We might take in some other lumpy bits on the way too.

Sundays 'Super Shorter' Race Group Ride 3rd May

on Thu, 30/04/2015 - 19:22

With 'Wilko' AKA 'The Boss' heading North early this week and not to be seen back around these parts until early afternoon.

I find myself in a position to lead a '1st Group/Race Group' from the shop at 09:00, as with friends and family commitments I need to be back in the front door by 12:20!

The ride will likely encounter a few hills en route, although nothing too strenuous, a few downhills and some flat long speed (TT position) sections.  So something for everyone.  The pace will be kept within Race Group perimeters, at 18-20 mph average, slightly slower on the hills will be permitted.

Great Dun Fell - Sunday 17th May

on Mon, 27/04/2015 - 09:12

This trip is the next one up on the calendar so time to get organised.

The route will be the same as last year (thanks to Neil Poll) but we will go clockwise, the other way around to last year.

Starting in Kendal it is 85 miles and 8,000ft of climbing. Starting with Shap Fell, then Great Dun Fell, cafe in Appleby, back to Kendal.

Great Dun Fell is unique and you really need to ride it. A dead end road up to a radar station, restricted for cars so pretty much traffic free. A 4.5 mile climb of 2,100ft with an awesome descent.

We will ride as a group, the distance and climbing will dictate a
