Pre or post Club Dinner Ride

on Fri, 16/01/2015 - 16:45

Check the details on the forum for some options. There is already a pre dinner ride for Saturday and a post dinner ride on Sunday. Both could be weather affected. The post dinner ride could be hangover affected. There are usually some plans made and agreed at the dinner too.

All a bit vague but it is club dinner weekend.

Welcome back to the A group Sunday 4th January

on Sat, 03/01/2015 - 17:02

Assuming we are all in the same boat, that's the good ship 'short of miles but long on chocolate'! The plan is for a steady ride heading towards Billinge which will mean a steady climb through the town. Then on to Shevington for the second and final steady climb of the day. Make our way up towards Eccleston and Leyland before heading to Rufford for anyone who wants a cafe stop. there could be a slow motion cafe sprint if you want one?

For anyone not stopping, we will carry on over Curlew lane heading back to Ormskirk for about 12.30pm.

25th Jan A- ride

on Thu, 01/01/2015 - 15:54

With Ste D taking the A's around a few little local lumps I will take an A- group (of there is enough interest) on a fast flat loop (yep the one I posted a few weeks ago) for any A riders short of form due to the winter break or B riders looking to step up.

Route will be flat, out through Eccleston/Buckshaw to Gregson Lane then loop back past Runshaw and Croston to the cafe at Rufford for those who want a coffee. There will be regular changes at the front, you won't get better or be able to join the fast boys if you hide in the wheels.

Boxing Day Ride

on Wed, 17/12/2014 - 16:18

For those who want to escape the house and ride off some of that Christmas dinner & Ale!

We will be meeting @ 10.00am outside The Bicycle Lounge for a steady couple of hours riding.

Steve Depport is taking the ride. If the numbers are vast we will have to split the group. So ride leaders will be required.

Steve is aiming to be back into Ormskirk for 12pm, so those who want to grab a swift beer on route or in Ormskirk you will need to arrange further details.

Ps I can't make the ride. Enjoy!

Happy Christmas everyone and here's to a cracking HMCC 2015!!

on Thu, 11/12/2014 - 21:00

After last years successful ride to Wem - Mark Titchener will be leading a ride from Ormskirk - originally the ride was to start at 7am but as it is only 50km to the first cafe stop then you all get an extra 15mins in bed the ride will start at 7:15am prompt. 186km to the train station at Birkenhead - 210km for those souls wanting to complete the loop.

Those that complete the whole ride will be bought a drink at La Cantina - courtesy of Titch himself!!

A/B ride - Sun 14th Dec

on Thu, 11/12/2014 - 20:46

Not even mid December but I have already had a few too many mince pies so will be out to burn a few calories so I dont have as much to do in Jan.

As long as I have the numbers and this weather bomb has buggered off then happy to take an A/B ride out for a localish ride.

Route will take us out to Parbold - a couple of local lumps then a nice flat loop out towards Much Hoole and down the A59 to the Cafe at Rufford.

Planning a loop down to Bickerstaffe, Rainford, Billinge then north to Orrell, Appleby Bridge, Eccleston. Heading to Croston for any cafe stoppers and back across the moss. Should be about 50 miles, back to Ormskirk for 12.30pm.

Sunday A ride, a couple of hills then a flat bit

on Fri, 28/11/2014 - 16:16

Planning on a starter of Ashurst Beacon, main course of Shaley Brow then dessert of the drag through Shevington. The flat bits from Wrightington up to Leyland, turn back for Croston and a Rufford cafe sprint. Back to Ormskirk for 12.30 for anyone not stopping at the cafe.

Keeping it STEADY on the climbs, not wanting anyone waiting too long at the top.
