Wirral Loop

on Fri, 05/02/2016 - 13:03

Forecast isn't great full stop for the weekend, I can't get out at all on Sunday hence a Saturday ride is on the cards.

The usual ride in to Liverpool, jump on the train for one stop, then a full loop of the Wirral peninsular stopping at the Two Mills cafe at around the 40 mile mark.

Rides aimed at A / strong B group riders with a pace to suit all.

Barrowbridge, Matchmoor & home

on Fri, 29/01/2016 - 08:54

Assuming the storm blows over a ride out to Barrowbridge, back over Matchmoor and then home. Two climbs but a bit lumpy inbetween as well.

Still planning to keep it steady for any B group riders who want to join in.

Not planning a cafe stop but if you want one, a couple of detours to the Great Barn at Rivington at about 35 miles or again to Cedar Farm at about 45 miles are two suggestions.

###Note the change of date!!!### Great Dunn Fell Loop (with Shap thrown in on the way back)

on Tue, 26/01/2016 - 19:05

####Change Of Date####
Apologies for this but due to personal circumstances I've got to change the date for this ride.

It will now be on Sunday 22nd May 2016.

Obviously anyone wanting to go on the original date is free to go, I've posted the route so enjoy.

Everyone else, take it as a few more weeks to get some miles in those legs.

###Posted early to bank your much needed cycling credits!!!###

Predominantly aimed at those training for the forthcoming 312, or any A group / Strong B group riders who are wanting to test themselves early on in the season.

This is a great ride that Steve Depport took

Local Lumps

on Mon, 25/01/2016 - 18:02

Forecast is quite 'mixed' at the minute with strong winds expected overnight.

In a bid to escape the winds, we're looking to have a shorter mid week ride. The shorter distance will be offset by a few of the local lumps. Pace will be 'steady' A group / strong B group. No one will be dropped. Not planning on a cafe stop due to the shorter distance but feel free to break off if required.

PLEASE NOTE THIS RIDE MAY BE CANCELLED LAST MINUTE IF THE WEATHER IS GRIM IN THE MORNING. KEEP AN EYE ON THE FORUM AND POSTING FOR ANY CANCELLATIONS.

Wirral Loop Round Two!

on Sun, 17/01/2016 - 12:58

###Another tour of the Wirral, as per what we did last week. The only difference being we will do the full scenic route as long as nobody falls off and slices their arm open (Kev Murphy). I've checked and the Two Mills is open on Fridays through the week! ###

Aimed at those of us crunching miles training for the forthcoming 312, or for anyone else who wants to get some winter base miles banked.

An extended loop from the shop down to Liverpool, jump the train across to Hamilton Square and then a loop of the Wirral aiming to stop at the Two Mills cafe at around the 50 mile mark.

Clieves, Moss Bank & Stoney 55m

on Thu, 14/01/2016 - 18:00

Similar to last week, with some lumpy bits in the middle. Another invitation to anyone who wants to try the A group, we will be keeping it STEADY and nobody will be left behind.

There will be a cafe stop in Rufford if you want one, or carry on straight back to Ormskirk.

Back to Ormskirk about 12.30pm, barring any mechanicals.

Link to the route attached.

Aimed at those of us crunching miles training for the forthcoming 312, or for anyone else who wants to get some winter base miles banked.

All in all 80 miles approx in the bank. Pace will be appropriate for A group or strong B group riders with a view of keeping the tempo up.

Sunday 10th January 2016

on Thu, 07/01/2016 - 19:44

Planned a route out through Brinscall, Tockholes and Brindle for Sunday. No major hills but lumpy in the middle. Given it is January we will keep the pace steady. We will get back to Rufford after about 45 miles if anyone wants a cafe stop. Aiming to be back in Ormskirk for 12.30/1.00pm

Now is the ideal time for any B group riders who have been thinking about trying the A group. Riding with us now will make the transition easier than the spring, by when the pace will have picked up. Nobody gets left behind, we have all been the rider who the group has to wait for, DO NOT WORRY about this.

Base Miles Century

on Mon, 04/01/2016 - 09:50

Forecast looks OK for Friday so post school run I'm planning to head north up to Knott End. The route is basically flat and pace will be suitable for all A group riders and strong B group riders who are looking to push on this year.

Meet at the shop for a prompt 09:30 depart.
