"When 'Wilkos' away the racers will play"

  Change of plan for Sunday as I believe the weather is going to be a bit hit and miss, with it deteriorating after midday.  This, combined with distance and ETA back, will make the job harder to recruit 'Race Group' riders for a 'spin up' over to Waddington-'Bashall Barn' (save this one for a nicer day)

  So with this in mind, and to take your minds off the weather, we're going to keep it local, flat and very fast (this is NOT an easy option) (this is NOT a no-drop ride) read on;

  After a 10-minute warm up to the 'Ring O Bells' we're going to follow the 'Tuesday Chain Gang' route, out to Southport, Ainsdale, Formby with the normal sprint finish, before the foot of Cleaves Hill.  From there the usual 'Rolling Recovery' (we will NOT be stopping) to the by-pass to allow what's left of the group to reform, before we head to the 'Pimbo Circuit' to hit some 'Laps' and see if we can mess up a few of the Strava KOM's on there (10 laps, or so) 4 minutes is the target I belive for a lap.  From there out through Appley Bridge, up to High Moor, then a decent down and race back, with the final sprint to the cafe stop (for any that want it) at Rufford Marina, ETA 12:20

  This ride will be 1x2 lines on the 'Chain Gang' route and 'Pimbo Circuit' with rolling anti-clockwise turns, but manage your efforts wisely and sit in when needed (also though, feel free to chase down anyone who goes off the front).  Social at times, but it will get strung out and be down to business at others, for example; after Tesco Lights in Formby, Sprint finishes or Summits. That means you can 'prove it' at the known road signs ect - just like the olden days.

  This is a friendly and supportive Group/Club, but if you get dropped, be self sufficient as this is NOT a no-drop ride.

  Please could all riders 'Buddy Up' with one other rider who will be doing this ride at the shop, as it makes it easier to account for 'dropped' riders.  Also NO HEADPHONES! please.

Ride Date:
Sun, 22/02/2015
Departing time:
9 A.M.
Departing from:
The Bicycle Lounge, Moor Street, Ormskirk
