Beginning as an informal meeting of riders outside the local bike shop in Ormskirk, HMCC was officially formed in 2008, named in honour of the late Harry Middleton – a well known local cyclist and owner of the bike shop.

Since 2008 the club has grown massively in popularity now having over 350 members of all ages. The club has managed to retain its casual, informal friendly attitude to cycling with the main priority being enjoyment and encouragement for riders of all abilities and experience, who just want to ride their bikes.

So, whether you'd just like to join other people on social rides, get fitter and improve your riding skills, or ride in sportives and races as a British Cycling affiliated club rider.

From April to September - Harry Middleton Cycling Club will be holding their weekly Go Ride youth coaching sessions from April, 6.30PM until 7.30 PM. Please email - info@thebicyclelounge.co.uk for further details....

Welcome back to the A group Sunday 4th January

on Sat, 03/01/2015 - 17:02

Assuming we are all in the same boat, that's the good ship 'short of miles but long on chocolate'! The plan is for a steady ride heading towards Billinge which will mean a steady climb through the town. Then on to Shevington for the second and final steady climb of the day. Make our way up towards Eccleston and Leyland before heading to Rufford for anyone who wants a cafe stop. there could be a slow motion cafe sprint if you want one?

For anyone not stopping, we will carry on over Curlew lane heading back to Ormskirk for about 12.30pm.

25th Jan A- ride

on Thu, 01/01/2015 - 15:54

With Ste D taking the A's around a few little local lumps I will take an A- group (of there is enough interest) on a fast flat loop (yep the one I posted a few weeks ago) for any A riders short of form due to the winter break or B riders looking to step up.

Route will be flat, out through Eccleston/Buckshaw to Gregson Lane then loop back past Runshaw and Croston to the cafe at Rufford for those who want a coffee. There will be regular changes at the front, you won't get better or be able to join the fast boys if you hide in the wheels.

Ride Date:
Sunday, 25 January, 2015
Estimated Distance:
70km
