I have to say, this year the club has felt like its gone from strength to strength and is developing a reputation as a friendly, inviting and warm club to join and ride with....on the other end of the cycling spectrum the club is starting to gain some momentum in the racing ranks....more riders are officially now catergorised racers and HMCC is appearing more and more on the top of race results lists!!!!

The latest incarnation of this falls into realm of the Mountain Goats.....it appears to be the season of the Hill Climb and there are a few club riders removing bottle cages, doning skin suits and having a crack at the 'Hill climb competition'....

National Hill Climb Comp

We've had the annual HMCC Hill climb comp a couple of weekends ago, with over 50 members giving Hunters a blast....for the 2nd year Tom Hanlon claimed the coverted HMCC Hill climb Champion title. Now Tom along with Rick Taylor are giving the nationals a go!!!

On Pea Royd lane on the 26th October both Tom and Rick will compete against the countries best hill climbers in a battle for the National Hill climb title!

Tom does Mow Cop (killer mile)

In preparation Tom competed in the Mow Cop (Killer Mile) Hill Climb comp last weekend and gave a highly respectable go at what i like to call 'the ba****d hill with the pub on it' - http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/news/latest-news/tejvan-pettinger-sets-ne...

Tom came 17th with 5:29:00 which is an immense time, easily the fastest HMCC riders up it (for fat lad reference i did it in 13:29) and not far off the top 10!!!

1st: Course Record – Tejvan Pettinger (Sri Chinmoy Cycling Team) 4:20.4

Rick hits the Rake

In preparation Rick competed in another tough hill climb comp at The Rake in Ramsbottom - LRC have their annual hill climb comp here and Rick came 15th with 3:00:07 (Again Fat lad reference - my time = 6:16)....again a club record.

I believe this weekend both are up Nick o pendle (North Lancs Hill climb comp??)

Good luck to you both....i'll be at the National HC with the camera!!

p.s. you're both nuts!!!!! :-)
