Fed up with the cold, wet British winter?
If you fancy some warm weather riding and great preparation for our summer, then you could follow in the footsteps of some HMCC riders.
In consecutive weeks in March, two HMCC riders enjoyed a week cycling with Tenerife Bike Tours. Steve Nelson had six rides in various parts of Tenerife, including climbing up to and across the crater at the top of Mount Teide, and the beautiful Masca valley.
John Pout followed on with three rides on Tenerife, including spotting cycling superstars Wout Van Aert and Tiesj Benoot. He also went to the neighboring island on La Gomera. Like Tenerife it is very mountainous, with lots of immaculate tarmac. La Gomera is also very quiet, agricultural, with a volcanic rainforest at the top.
Tenerife Bike Tours are owned and run by locals Alberto and Marcos Delgado. They know every quiet, car-free back roads on the islands. They are attentive, well organized and love cycling. They offer a very personalized service, catering for all ages and speeds of riders. The accommodation is half-board in nice hotels. Virtually all the cyclists were repeat customers, which says a lot. The end of every cycling week finishes with a home cooked Paella at their mum’s house. Both Steve and John say they will be back again.
