A group day out Sunday 14th August

This is the next date we had published for a big day out. It as originally suggested as a possible Tour of Britain stage but none of them takes my fancy.

I thought we might do a 100mile ride from the shop instead, probably setting off at 8.00am. This saves spending an hour at either end of the ride in a car and still gives you a lie in.

I will sort a route shortly and post something to look at. There will be at least one cafe stop, possibly two.

Aimed at the A group plus any of the B group who want to step up.

Here is a possible route.

This is 106 miles, 4,885ft climbing. All the lumpy bits are in the first half of the ride, then it is pretty flat.

Whalley is usually a good cafe stop which is 45 miles,

Preston to Tarleton is between 70-80 miles so could make another quick stop araound there.

I would think about 6.5 hours riding time, 1 to 1.5 hours cafe/faffing time, so back to Ormskirk for 4pm ish.

Weather looking OK for Sunday. See you at the shop at 8.00am if you are going with enough supplies/cash for a day out.
