Well this is called blowing your own trumpet.!!!!!   Came first in the Rod Ellis, Dave Jones and Gerry Balshaw Memorial road race today held on the Saighton couse in cheshire. Tried to get away in a number of breaks which were all chased down until the final lap when i got away in a two man break and won with half a wheel in the sprint.

Finished in top ten in all other races this year and winning my age catergory on several occasions. However, this is the first outright race win for me in Harry Middleton cc colours. The only down side to this is i have been invited to the Port Sunlight Wheelers club dinner were all winners are expected to make a speech.!!!

I was presented with the Gerry Balshaw Memorial trophy by his wife which was a very proud moment for me as Gerry was a top racer competing in europe on the International circuit with amongst others, Doug Daily and Phil Liggett.

I just hope i can perform as well in the National Road Race Championships at Napton on the 10th of August......

Well done Brian! Great to see someone keeping the black and blue out front even if Team Sky got nowhere in the Tour. Are they signing you up to their vets squad?
