Rider ability:
Estimated Distance:
88 miles

WEATHER UPDATE - IT'S ON, FORECAST LOOKS BETTER AND I WANT TO GO FOR IT. PASS THE MESSAGE, LET'S GO CLIMBING!

Time to visit Great Dun Fell, hopefully the weather is OK as we have had to cancel this ride more than once over the last few years. Starting in Kendal we will go clockwise, starting up Shap Fell and reaching the top at 10 miles in, then on to Great Dun Fell at about 34 miles in, cafe stop near Appleby at 50 miles, returning to Kendal.

Meet - Ormskirk bus station car park 6.15, leaving at 6.30am

Travel to - Castle Drive, Kendal, LA9 7BN for about 8.00am (this is a car park at Kendal Football club grounds)

Kendal sits at the bottom of the River Kent valley, so unless you are canoing downriver, every way is up.

Shap Fell - 9.0 miles long/1,245ft or 370m of climbing/average 3%/max 8%/KOM 22.55/HMCC KOM Neil Pollington 47.38 (the climbing starts pretty much straight out of Kendal, so STEADY)

Great Dun Fell - 4.6miles long/2,051ft or 632m of climbing/average 9%/max 20%/KOM25.22/HMCC KOM Andy Disley 39.46 (DNA your time to beat from your overgeared trip is 1.05.34!)

Cafe 66 - we will stop here after Great Dun Fell at about 50 miles. It is outside Appleby on the A66. Trip Advisor #1 for eating in Appleby.

We can sort some car sharing, just need to know who is going.
