Rider ability:
Estimated Distance:
100 miles

As posted the Captain cannot make Sunday so you're stuck with me. I have mapped a route that I intend to take the group on - the forecast looks good BUT if we get a bit wet/cold or we get a few mechanicals then I may make some changes on the fly to ensure we get back mid afternoon - however currently the plan is to make this a century - the ride breaks up into 3rds - the first 3rd is flat, the second 3rd is very hilly with gradients hitting 20%+ and the final 3rd is relatively flat but the pace may ramp up a bit as eager people drive the group home.

Plan is to head North, keeping off the A6 using the quieter roads running parallel - we will stop at Scorton for a "shop" stop. In a change to Matt's usual route we will contuinue to head north and then take in the Jubilee Tower climb (to chalk off a climb in the 100 greatest climbs book) - we then descend to the foot of the northside climb over the trough picking up the "usual" route. We continue on to the hard side of Jeffries Hill, gulp. Rather than taking the fork to the right we will continue up and over and head South to Ribchester and into Wilpshire where we will stop again for a quick shop stop (same place as the Whalley Nab ride as last year) then through to Hoghton and home.

  • Ride Leaves @ 8.10am
  • Pace will be good A pace - the hooligans are in Mallorca and this will be a tough route so pace will be kept in check
  • As always climbs will be done at your pace - we will re-group at the top or at the bottom of the descent just listen for the shouts.
  • As above there will be NO cafe stop - there will be 2 shop stops to give everyone 15 minutes break and also to refill bottles etc. It's a long day and I am not adding 90 minutes by sitting around at a cafe.
