Beginning as an informal meeting of riders outside the local bike shop in Ormskirk, HMCC was officially formed in 2008, named in honour of the late Harry Middleton – a well known local cyclist and owner of the bike shop.

Since 2008 the club has grown massively in popularity now having over 350 members of all ages. The club has managed to retain its casual, informal friendly attitude to cycling with the main priority being enjoyment and encouragement for riders of all abilities and experience, who just want to ride their bikes.

So, whether you'd just like to join other people on social rides, get fitter and improve your riding skills, or ride in sportives and races as a British Cycling affiliated club rider.

From April to September - Harry Middleton Cycling Club will be holding their weekly Go Ride youth coaching sessions from April, 6.30PM until 7.30 PM. Please email - info@thebicyclelounge.co.uk for further details....

8th Feb, Alternative A ride

on Fri, 06/02/2015 - 12:59

Another nippy forecast for Sunday but if the meterologists are to be believed we should be ice free. If numbers are like last week then I will take an A paced group out for a local blast.

As long as the roads are clear the plan will be to head out towards Ashurst Beacon for a loop taking in a couple of lumps before heading out for a fast flat blast towards Croston, Tarleton and Holmeswood and back to the cafe at Rufford. Roughly 60km. If the roads around Ashurst arent great then will probably head towards Southport.

A group Sunday 1st February

on Fri, 30/01/2015 - 20:31

Neil has already posted in the forum about possibly running two A rides, dependent on the numbers, so check his post out as well.

I was planning to take a ride north to Leyland, then turn south through Eccleston to Shevington, then Orrell. A nice descent of Shaley Brow before a cafe stop at Fir Tree farm (for those wanting one). For those not stopping, back through Rainford to Ormskirk.

About 50 miles, should be back for 12.30pm.

All weather dependent of course!

A Group Sunday 25th January

on Fri, 23/01/2015 - 10:18

Assuming the weather is OK, but still staying away from Howich/Bolton, no big climbs but a few smaller lumps.

Heading to Knowsley, Prescott, over Moss Bank, to Wigan then Rufford for a cafe stop if anybody wants it. Back to Ormskirk for about 12.30pm if you don't stop at the cafe.

See you thereyes
