Beginning as an informal meeting of riders outside the local bike shop in Ormskirk, HMCC was officially formed in 2008, named in honour of the late Harry Middleton – a well known local cyclist and owner of the bike shop.

Since 2008 the club has grown massively in popularity now having over 350 members of all ages. The club has managed to retain its casual, informal friendly attitude to cycling with the main priority being enjoyment and encouragement for riders of all abilities and experience, who just want to ride their bikes.

So, whether you'd just like to join other people on social rides, get fitter and improve your riding skills, or ride in sportives and races as a British Cycling affiliated club rider.

From April to September - Harry Middleton Cycling Club will be holding their weekly Go Ride youth coaching sessions from April, 6.30PM until 7.30 PM. Please email - info@thebicyclelounge.co.uk for further details....

Tour of Britain 2015 stage 2

on Mon, 20/07/2015 - 10:15

Sunday 9th August was pencilled in for a Tour de Yorkshire ride but as the Tour of Britain is coming to Lancashire later this year it seemed to good an opportunity to miss. I am suggesting we ride most of what will be stage 2, the pros will ride this on 7th September. The ToB route starts in Clitheroe and finishes in Colne but I have planned a route to start and finish in Whalley, as we don't have the benefit of team buses to transfer. We will still do most of the major climbs from the ToB.

I might tweak this route a bit yet but at the moment it is about 82m and 6,000ft of climbing.

19/7/15 Peak District Ride

on Mon, 06/07/2015 - 13:32

Just under two weeks now until we try and get one of planned rides up and running, after the weather rather ruined our plans last time round.

The Peak District ride was great last year and now is your chance to sign up for another "epic" ride. I am still tinkering with the route but below is the probably route - the good news for 2015 is that I wont be killing everyone by putting Mow Cop in!

This year we will start in Disley at 8:30, think I have a found a free car park, then ride 20km to warm up the legs before taking on Snake Pass.

Sunday, 19 July, 2015
